Community

We run events promoting Braille learning, Braille research and community meet-ups. These include events put on with the Braillists Foundation, events at our workshop in Bristol, and around shows like Sight Village.

To hear more about the next community event Bristol Braille is putting on or participating on see our contacts page, which includes a diary of up-coming shows we will be attending.

Alternatively search the site for past events under ‘tour’, ‘commissions and projects’ or visit the Braillists Foundation, with whom we have put on a number of masterclasses and socials.

Our relationship with the Braillists Foundation

The Braillists was founded in 2013 by members of the community and BBT team members who had been testing early Canute prototypes. It was registered with the Charity Commission as the Braillists Foundation in 2020. The Braillists is entirely independent of BBT. BBT has nonetheless been and remains a frequent partner in and sponsor of many of the Braillists’ core activities. These have included the local meetings, stands at Sight Villages and other exhibitions, the online Masterclass series’s, in particular the Computer Science series, the Now That’s What I Call Braille learning resources, and the distribution of free Braille writing equipment.
